Walks

France has lots of beautiful countryside which is great for walking. To help get you started on some great treks through the French countryside I have acurately mapped some of our local walks. With the aid of a free to use app and a compatible GPS smartphone you should find them easy to follow.
This is just a small selection of the walks here in the Normandy National Park, due to the climate we have in this area of France it makes for ideal walking almost all year round.

Town walk around Lassay Les Châteaux 4.66KM - very easy walk on tarmac footpath.

This walk will visit some of the interesting sites in and near to Lassay aswell as some great views over the nearby Countryside. I suggest you park in the Rosarie car park walk up the entrance ramp and turn left follow the footpath/road you will see the Châteaux and lake on your right. Crossing over the road to the right hand side you will get a lovely view of the Chateaux walking a little further along you will find the Medieval Garden where can wonder round and down near the lake you will see the Old Wash House with a lovely wood carving of a woman doing washing

Head back up to the road and turn right. When you get to the island/roundabout turn left and follow the road, at the layby look to your left again you get a view of the Chateaux. At the next island take the second exit/straight on to the next island, take the second exit you now have a hill to walk up at the top and final island the Intermarche supermarket turn left follow the route back along and down back into Lassay. Back into the Centre by turning left at the crossroads where you will find Restaurants, Cafes and even a Take-away outlet. To get back into the Car Park, head back to the Marie Office where you will find a footpath to the left hand side follow this back down to the car park. Turn left and you will find the Old Rose Garden with over 300 varieties of roses and the car park on your right.

Ciruit Chateaux Bois – Thibault 4.68KM

Park your car in the Rossarie Car Park, then head up the ramp out of the car park. Turn right out of the car park towards the cross roads, at the cross roads turn left and head past the Tourist Information office to the Châteaux. Continue on the road keeping right down the hill to the next junction. Turn left then turn right at the Restaurant, road name Rue de Jardins. Continue on till next junction turn very sharp left Rue De Faubourg, continue straight on keeping left at the junction. At the next road turn right onto Rue De Bois Janvier, continue on this route you will find some signs to show you the route across green fields to the next road.

Onto the D216 turn left and not far along look for an opening on your right, follow that route it will bring you to the back of the Châteaux Bois-Thibault where you can have a wonder round the outside and the inside if open. Follow the road down past the car park, at the bottom go straight across the road you will see the signs follow this trail into the woods. Where you will see a wood sculptor of Merlin and then Guinevere. Continue till you come to a crossroads in the wood turn left and follow the track back to Lassay, at the road turn right taking you back into Town where you can rest and enjoy coffee, beer or even wine at one of the cafés / bars.
